After a slow hiatus filled with sub-par side projects, Blink 182 announced at the Grammy’s that they are officially back together!  They are supposedly in the process of recording a new album.

Apparently James Blunt has offered to quit making music, provided he is paid enough to do so…

Blunt has been hounded for his “cheesy songs” - especially the worldwide hit and widely parodied, You’re Beautiful - and he’s had enough. Worn down by constant criticism, Blunt told Uncut magazine: “If someone is prepared to pay me enough, I’ll stop.”

Blunt says he doesn’t really understand all the hate directed his way, and wishes his detractors would just listen to someone else’s music.

“If you don’t like my music then listen to someone else.

“It’s bizarre that I should attract all this agression. Any judgment made on that level is a form of prejudice.

“But I’m traveling around the world and no one else seems aware of my very stupid speaking voice, which is all it is.”

Britain’s The Sun newspaper is trying to raise money to buy Blunt’s precious gift of silence.

No joke: Amy Poehler’s leaving Saturday Night Live.

According to the Los Angeles Times, she tells the new issue of Men’s Vogue that she is taking a break after the November election as she prepares to welcome her first child. And she won’t be returning after maternity leave.

“It’s gonna be really hard Boyz II Men hard to say goodbye to yesterday,” she says. “SNL was dangerous, late-night, last-minute and star-studded, but like any good drug, you need to know when to put it down.”

Poehler won’t be off the small screen altogether. She has signed on for NBC’s upcoming Office spin-off, set to air next year. “I can kind of confirm that I will be working in some capacity on that show,” she said in July. “I don’t really have any other details yet.”

Next up: The Emmys. She is nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for SNL. She generated laughs this past weekend, portraying Hillary Clinton in a sketch with Tina Fey, who played Sarah Palin.

It’s the end of an era for MTV.

Executive producer Dave Sirulnick said Monday that the final episode of TRL will air in November.

And, considering what MTV’s program schedule looks like these days, the two-hour special—which doesn’t have an exact date yet but will be shown on a Saturday afternoon—will seemingly be the most time the network has devoted to music videos all at once (minus the annual VMAs) in ages.

While this won’t be the last episode ever of what premiered in 1998 as the Carson Daly-hosted Total Request Live, which helped introduce über-popsters such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake (as part of ‘N Sync) to the world, Sirulnick agreed that the interactive video-countdown show could use a break.

Daly left his career-making venture for NBC’s late-night pastures in 2003, after which a revolving lineup of VJs, including Damien Fahey, LaLa Vasquez and Nick Lachey squeeze Vanessa Minnillo, took turns hosting.

TRL, which started taping two episodes a day last year, marked its 2,000th episode on May 22, 2007. Later that year, in a nod to the fact that the show was no longer a singular destination for fans’ video-viewing pleasure, producers turned to a combination of votes, chart action, downloads, ringtone purchases, radio play and Internet streaming to determine the top videos each week.

“I’m going to miss TRL,” Eminem, who graced the show’s Times Square studio many times over the years, said in a statement. “Where else will I be able to start feuds, defend my honor vigorously and act like an angry teenager on national TV? Oh wait…the VMAs!”

Pretty much, considering MTV is known to the current channel-flipping generation more for being the home of The Hills than the network where, for most of the 1990s, you could catch the Top 100 Videos of All Time countdown (which always ended with Guns N’ Roses‘ “November Rain” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in the No. 1 and 2 spots).

Starting in November, new and viewer-tested videos will continue to have a home on the Pete Wentz-hosted FNMTV, featuring a pretaped combo of videos and in-studio performances, which had a successful 15-episode run on Friday nights this summer.

Kanye West and his bodyguard, Don Crowley, were arrested at LAX this morning, the LAX Police Department has confirmed to Access Hollywood, which was the first news outlet to break the news online today.

The incident took place at 7:51 AM this morning at the entrance to the security checkpoint for American Airlines at Terminal 4. The two were en route to Honolulu at the time.

According to an eyewitness on the scene who spoke with Access, the incident began when Kanye approached a camera that was being aimed at him by a photographer.

According to the gossip Web site TMZ.com, the paparazzo was attempting to photograph the rap star, when Kanye allegedly confronted the photographer, grabbing his camera (reportedly valued at over $10,000) and smashing it to the ground. Kanye then smashed another piece of the camera, possibly the flash, to the ground.

A TMZ videographer named Erik, who was also present, was attempting to videotape Kanye and the photographer, when Don (the bodyguard) grabbed TMZ’s video camera. A struggle reportedly ensued between Don and Erik. Airport security intervened and took Don and the photographer aside, and spoke to both of them, later releasing them both.

Kanye then approached the photographer again, getting “in his face,” Access’ witness said. A group of flight attendants also saw Kanye confront the photographer again, according to the witness. According to TMZ, Kanye then tried to board his plane, but overheard police talking with Erik about whether or not he had filmed the incident.

Kanye reportedly then approached Erik demanding the tape, yelling, “Gimme that f****** videotape,” which caused Erik’s camera to smash to the ground (yes, this was the 2nd camera smashed to the ground)! As the incident escalated, approximately eight LAX police officers apprehended Kanye, putting him in handcuffs, and took him and Don into custody, according to Access’ witness.

According to Access’ witness, LAX police did not detain either photographer. The witness also noted that due to the anniversary of 9-11, police presence at the airport appeared to be higher than normal.

Kanye and Don were taken to the LAPD Pacific Division where they were booked and charged with felony vandalism.

Cruise To Get His Ogre On? He played an ogre-like Hollywood studio mogul in this summer’s “Tropic Thunder,” and now Tom Cruise could be bringing his comic sensibilities to “Shrek Goes Fourth,” CinemaBlend.com reports. A little birdie at DreamWorks leaked to the movie site that Cruise is reportedly being considered as one option to voice the movie’s villain. The fourth “Shrek” film is due out in 2010.

Oasis guitarist and chief songwriter Noel Gallagher was admitted to a hospital in Toronto Sunday night after a man rushed the stage and attacked the British rocker, leaving him with a possibly fractured rib and suspected ligament damage.

The incident took place at Toronto’s 2008 V Festival, in the middle of the group’s performance of “Morning Glory.”

As caught on video, a man rushed up from the back of the stage and pushed a clearly unsuspecting Gallagher down onto his sound equipment. The man then made a lunge toward Noel’s bandmate and brother, Liam Gallagher, but is caught by security before he’s able to make contact.

Liam Gallagher attempted to reciprocate the attack on his and his sibling’s behalf, but was held back, and the assailant dragged offstage, before he could do so. According to the band’s official website, Noel “fell heavily onto his monitor speakers” as a result of the attack.

After the incident, the performance was halted and the stage cleared. About 15 minutes later, the band returned to the crowd of 25,000 to finish out their set, with the injured Gallagher telling the audience that the attack had added “a little excitement” to the night.

The musician was taken to the hospital immediately after the concert, one of the last on their now potentially truncated North American tour, and the attacker, a man in his 30s whose name has not been released, was taken into police custody and is expected to be charged with assault. A festival spokesman called the incident a “security breach” and a spokesman for the band seemed exceedingly accepting of the event.
